We are pleased to offer a series of tours in the California Culture series which were inspired by host Richard Schave's study with the British art historian Reyner Banham, author of the seminal monograph Los Angeles: The Architecture of Four Ecologies. Taking the essence of Reyner’s work--reverence, passion, and an eye to context--we tackle the development of Southern California as a built environment, looking at how the growing populations shaped the climate and ecologies, creating a unique sense of place which has captivated the world. These tours are typically scheduled in February and August.

South L.A. Road Trip: Hot Rods, Adobes, Googie & Early Modernism

The Lowdown on Downtown

Boyle Heights & The San Gabriel Valley: The Hidden Histories of L.A.'s Melting Pot

Route 66 Road Trip: Roadside Architecture, Citrus, Drive-Ins & Cemeteries (sorry, this tour is not currently on our schedule)

The California Culture tour series was formerly known as the Reyner Banham Loves Los Angeles series.
